Troy’s fishing journey began at the age of 5, when he would accompany his grandfather on fishing trips in Orlando, Florida. His passion for fishing ignited early, and it wasn’t long before he caught his first big bass in a neighborhood canal—a moment that marked the beginning of a lifelong love for the sport.

As a young teen, Troy and his friends would ride their bikes to nearby lakes, fishing from the banks and accessible docks. By the time they were older, they were hauling a Jon boat in the back of his pickup truck, eager to fish for Largemouth Bass in area lakes. As an adult, Troy expanded his horizons, fishing the inshore waters of the Indian River, Mosquito Lagoon, Tampa Bay, and Crystal River.

Today, Troy can still be found fishing those same familiar inshore areas, as well as exploring new lakes and rivers alongside old friends from his childhood and new ones he’s met along the way.

With nearly 50 years of experience, Troy’s dream of sharing his passion for fishing with others led to the creation of Fishing The Shallows—a platform born from his love of the sport and his desire to inspire others to experience the thrill of fishing in shallow waters.
