About the Founder

Troy’s passion for fishing began at five years old, when he started fishing with his grandfather in Orlando, Florida. As a child, he caught his first big largemouth bass in a canal running through his neighborhood—and from that moment, there was no turning back.

During his early teenage years, Troy and his friends would ride their bikes to nearby lakes, fishing anywhere they could find an accessible bank or dock. As they got older, they carried a Jon boat in the back of Troy’s pickup truck and explored area lakes in search of largemouth bass.

As an adult, Troy’s passion expanded to Florida’s inshore waters. He began fishing the Indian River, Mosquito Lagoon, Tampa Bay, Crystal River, and many other shallow-water destinations throughout the state.

Today, you can still find Troy fishing many of those same inshore areas while also exploring new lakes, rivers, and coastlines with childhood friends and others he has met along the way.

After nearly 50 years of fishing, Troy wanted to create something that represented more than the time spent catching fish. He wanted to celebrate the lifestyle, friendships, memories, and experiences that are created on the water.

That passion led to the creation of Fishing The Shallows.

Fishing The Shallows apparel is designed for people who feel most at home near the water—whether they are fishing the flats, exploring a new lake, spending the day on the boat, or simply carrying the fishing lifestyle with them wherever they go.

Every design reflects the passion, adventure, and connection to the outdoors that have shaped Troy’s life since his first days fishing with his grandfather.
